The ArcelorMittal Orbit stands between the Aquatics Centre and Stadium on the Olympic Park and is the icon of the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. The Orbit was complete in 2012 and hosted 130,000 visitors during the Games. While the Orbit was as the surrounding area was modified for legacy use, the Orbit team and Absolute developed communication material to support the structure’s launch as a world class visitor attraction.
The aim of the site was to make visitor information on the ArcelorMittal Orbit instantly accessible, easy to navigate with a logical, user-friendly path. The sites main aim was to excite users and encourage them to visit, return and tell their friends, easily sharing information and images via social media.
The website needed to give reasons for visitors to return to the site, providing new content and up to date news, images and campaign information – promoting events and new elements of the Orbit visitor experience and most importantly to drive ticket sales for timed entry and upcoming events.
The site also needed to hold media information, press releases, downloadable press packs, images and b-roll, to link to merchandise purchase-path and to hold teaching resources and schools information.
