InkFish Hair Salon

In the words of one of the most famous hairdressers of all time, the legendary Vidal Sassoon, ‘the working of hair is architecture with a human element’ – and the same analogy could be neatly sheared into the philosophy behind Absolute’s stunning new salon design for Inkfish.

Owner Vidette Chivers has been county-renowned as THE leading hairdresser for over 20 years. Vidette has built two Truro salons with a staff of over 25 people and over 4,500 regular customers. The Inkfish team has therefore been working with the Absolute Interiors team and their shopfitters, Stephens & Stephens, to ensure they go to work every day in the sharpest of salons.

Vidette collaborated with Absolute’s Creative Director Helen Stephens, and her team, over 12 years ago when they created the Inkfish brand. This time around, Vidette and Helen created a new interiors scheme which focuses on producing stunning surroundings that portray the Inkfish modern thinking and commitment to design. Lighting is obviously key in hairdressing so the Absolute team chose a crisp, bright, reflective white and black colour palette, ensuring all light is reflected and used to optimum effect.

The most important part of the salon interior, and where the most investment has been made, was in the new customer chairs and hair washing area. With stunning chairs designed by Porsche, Vidette wanted her clients to be at the core of the scheme and intrinsically experience her quality conviction first hand, each and every time they came to the salon. The chairs have been designed with inherent beauty and comfort as you would naturally expect nothing less from Porsche.

New storage and display areas have also been carefully considered by the Absolute Interiors team to ensure that a streamlined and minimal look could be achieved whilst still answering all the business’ key operational trading needs on an ongoing basis.

Helen Stephens says, “Working with Inkfish is extremely refreshing and Vidette is just as fastidious about the sleek salon surroundings as she is about every single haircut which her team provides. Our new monochrome scheme ensures the whole space is flooded with bouncing light which is also picked up by the porcelain white shiny large tile floor throughout.”

Vidette Chivers says, “The customer experience and the upmost quality of cut and colour is obviously at the epicentre of everything that we do and our investment in Porsche chairs and in our shiny new surroundings has been drawing admiring comments from our clients who are loving our new look. Absolute has simplified our large ‘storage’ units replacing them with lit wall shelving so we can showcase all our top end products and keep everything slick, uncluttered and efficient. The opening up the windows means passers-by can see right through our new salon and the new surroundings are already drawing new clients in to further develop our business.”
