Nick Jones, Director of Soho House Group, for the first time put his trust in someone other than his in house design team to conceptualise his new Cowshed spa. Cowshed Cornwall located at St.Moritz Hotel near Rock joins other carefully chosen locations in New York, London, Edinburgh and in the Virgin Atlantic First Class Lounge at Heathrow for the expansion of the Cowshed brand across the globe, however the Cornwall location will be unique in the fact that it has had the Absolute touch.
The design concept for the spa was to make it look as un-styled as possible giving emphasis to the surrounding coastline and countryside and allowing visitors to truly relax. On top of the initial brief it had to effortlessly fuse with the look and feel of the hotel as well as integrate all of the core Cowshed brand values so, as not to compromise its international status.
The Cornish Cowshed has six luxury treatment rooms with full showers including a unique ‘Cowgroom’ room where two therapists treat and pamper a client at the same time as well as manicure and pedicure stations and a luxury relaxation lounge.
Cowshed is part of the Soho House Group who own private members’ clubs in London and New York as well as Babington House in Somerset. Cowshed is a haven for relaxation, regeneration and exercise. The concept was born at Babington House, a chic retreat in Somerset which redefined the image of country house hotels and the weekend break. The original cowshed on the estate was transformed into the ultimate spa destination with the Cowshed range of products containing infusions of hand picked herbs from Babington’s walled garden.
